Senior Financial Auditor (Non-SOX) – $90-105K Plus Bonus

ACCsurance has a Senior Financial Auditor (Non-SOX) opening for a Fortune 500 Financial Services Client in Downtown Chicago.  The position is paying in the $90-105K plus 10-15% Annual Bonus range with a 4% Pension and potential Sign On Bonus.  The company also has a great match on their 401k, super strong benefits, unheard of PTO with 35-40 full days of PTO in year one, excellent work/life balance with many half day Fridays in the summer, and minimal travel.  The department is cutting edge and always looking for new audit approaches and this person will be a big game changer with a very major client and future opportunities are limitless.

The Senior Financial Auditor is an “Auditor in Charge” on the Corporate team, who conducts and executes audits throughout the corporation.  This role leads project teams, which includes providing oversight to the audit team and communicating results of the engagement to management.  The Senior Financial Auditor works closely with the audit managers to confirm the scope of the audit and to devise an appropriate testing approach to be performed during the engagement.  The Senior Financial Auditor is responsible for workpaper quality, thoroughness, accuracy, and timeliness.  The Senior Financial Auditor must possess strong written and oral communication skills, a desire to promote a collaborative environment, and help further enhance the risk and control environment for the organization.

Major Duties:

• Completing required planning documentation, performing process walkthrough meetings, and drafting risks, controls, and tests
• Execute testing in accordance with Audit Services’ Standards and producing clear and concise documentation that aligns the test attributes with test objectives, and connecting conclusions reached with the related to test results
• Functions in various roles on audit assignments, including leading audits, staffing audits, and providing oversight functions based on the needs of the team
• Demonstrating professional skepticism and comfort with questioning how certain processes are being performed in order to identify enhancement opportunities
• Applies analytical skills to review information, perform assessments of the audit results, and evaluate the adequacy of controls
• Obtaining and maintaining a thorough understanding of the Audit Services’ Internal Audit Charter, Policy and Methodology, and adhering to all applicable requirements within those documents
• Works closely with audit managers to perform/develop the audit planning, scoping, and fieldwork execution strategy
• Reviews the work papers of the audit team members ensuring that departmental standards have been met
• Ensure audit work including workpaper documentation, findings, and the final report adheres to Audit Services methodology and are clear, thorough but concise, and adequately support findings
• Completes and compiles findings and recommendations for the purpose of status updates, memos, and audit reports
• Perform issue validation and assist audit team members with issue validation as necessary

Qualifications:

  • Generally 3+ years of auditing experience in a financial institution or in a public auditing/consulting firm;
  • Demonstrated proficiency in evidencing strong analytical, project management, and problem solving skills;
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills;
  • Strong business skills and general business acumen;
  • Proven ability to work independently and in a team environment;
  • Ability to work under pressure and deliver to tight deadlines;
  • Ability to adapt and react positively in a changing and dynamic work environment;
  • A College or University degree;
  • A Master’s Degree (or other graduate program) and/or FRM, PRM, CFA and/or CIA certification is preferred, but not mandatory.
